Each and every year, a new game comes out that completely blows everyone and every other game away, leaving you wondering how no one had thought of such an idea before. Lucky for gamers, having mobile devices that can support games as well makes it easier than ever to never put down the controller, no matter where you are.
Gaming on mobile devices has become the new norm with the use of smart phones and tablets. Whether you’re lounging on the couch, waiting at the bus stop, or even 30,000 feet up in an airplane, your games can now travel with you and it has never been easier.
Due to the New Year, I’ve decided to conduct a list of the top five mobile game devices of 2016, and it does not disappoint. Keep reading to see if any of your favorite games made the list, or to check out some awesome games that I highly suggest you download.
5) Color Switch
The latest game produced by Fortafy Games, Color Switch is a simple, yet intense mobile game that quickly and rightfully gained a lot of popularity.
It is simple in the sense that players merely guide their ball through obstacles by matching colors, but what makes it intense is the ever-changing circumstances, powerups and complex obstacles thrown in at any given time.
4) Super Mario Run
Developed by Nintendo, of course, this is the first time the classic franchise has created a game for mobile usage. While it does cost $10, it still possesses all of the best qualities that you’ve come to love and expect from Mario games growing up; only it is on your phone.
A huge plus is that once you’ve bought the game, there is next to nothing within the game that requires or tempts you to spend your actual, real-world money on.
3) Mini Metro
A very intense puzzle experience, Mini Metro turns you into a city planner and requires you to connect points on a map of underground rail systems.
Developed by Dinosaur Polo Club, Mini Metro consists of a very simplistic and welcoming design, mimicking the typical transit system maps you see in big-city public transportation.
2) Clash Royale
After head-to-head multiplayer on mobile devices seemed impossible for many years, Supercell developers created exactly that within Clash Royale—and it is awesome.
It is a strategical war game that has you placing units on a battlefield in order to destroy your enemy’s towers and castles. The only downside is the gameplay’s strong encouragement to spend vast amounts of real-world money within the game
1) Pokémon Go
Easily the best mobile game of 2016, Pokémon Go opened up a whole different kind of category when it comes to gaming; they created a game that requires you to get outside and venture around your neighborhood and surrounding areas.
It is a location-based game with the goal in mind of traveling around to catch all the different types of Pokémon. Never before has there been a game like it and Niantic crushed it out of the ballpark.
